The current COVID-19 pandemic has forced governments around the world to impose stringent containment and lockdown measures as a result of which people have had to drastically curtail their social relationships.
In this regard, a group of researchers from the Centro Mibtec, investigated how the frequency of use of digital communication technologies during the lockdown (such as voice and video calls, online board games and multiplayer video games, or even watching movies in party mode) favored a greater perception of social support, which in turn mitigated the negative psychological effects of the measures taken during the lockdown in Italy.
